Peru Defense Minister Steps Down Over Delayed US Fighter Jet Purchase
In his resignation letter addressed to President José María Balcázar, Díaz said the decision to delay the purchase was taken despite what he described as a fundamental disagreement within the government. He warned that the move could negatively affect Peru’s national interests.
Díaz had assumed the position of defense minister on March 17.
The Peruvian presidency has not yet issued an official response regarding his resignation, according to reports.
